The Nanette Cameron School of Interior Design is well recognised throughout the New Zealand design industry. In its forty-plus year history the school has instilled an understanding and appreciation of design in thousands of students. In 2004 Nanette Cameron was awarded a Queen's Service Medal for her contribution to the community, partially through her Interior Design School. 

The course philosophy for the Nanette Cameron School of Interior Design is to broaden the cultural background of students and provide knowledge and confidence to create a beautiful, personal and satisfying home environment. Interior Design courses are enriched with visits to private homes and buildings of particular interest.

Nanette Cameron School of Interior Design introduces New Courses in Sustainable Development and Contemporary Landscaping with Gill Warren.

The Nanette Cameron School of Interior Design is pleased to announce the Introduction of Gill Warren to the School in 2010. Gill will be offering courses in sustainable development and contemporary landscaping.
Gill Warren will be known to many of you as Gill Smith of Smith and Warren Ltd. Gill trained as an Interior Designer at the Chelsea School of Art & Design in London before returning to Auckland where she worked at both Martin Hughes and Associates and Elaine Conway Interior Design Ltd. Gill then went on to train as a Landscape Designer through Unitec, Auckland, in order to offer a holistic design service to her local and national clients.

 
 

CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPING with Gill Warren
This course is for those people wanting to have design input to their landscapes. We look at; elements of successful gardens; methods to review your site and abilities; colour schemes for plant and paint; planting schemes that will work for your site; materials suited to your property and budget; easy tricks to make gardens work well in the Auckland region
There is time to work on your own projects if you have one - bring plans and photos of your site to the first class. Bring garden design books from the library or your shelves for class one.

Gill Warren is interior and landscape designer keen to make the outdoors a special place for its users. A garden must work well for the site, and suit the buildings it surrounds plus match the gardener in terms of cost and care requirements. It is a space to work and play in, to enjoy without worrying about limitless maintenance costs and energy.

ARM CHAIR TRAVELS
Travel the world without leaving central Auckland.

Arm Chair Travels is a series of talks about art, architecture and gardens overseas on Fridays in the wintery months of July, August and September 2010. Leading Auckland architects, designers and artists talk about the places and things they love to visit and will inspire you to visit them in the future. Nanette is bringing the Design School to town and invites you to come to listen to these inspiring travellers.


All lectures start at 12noon at the Grey Lynn Community Centre, 510 Richmond Road, Grey Lynn. Price for each lecture is $35 and includes a light lunch. Come to one lecture or come to them all, you can choose. These events are part of the public programme from the Nanette Cameron School of Interior Design. The most famous sites of Renaissance and Medieval Art - How to organise your trip, where to go, what to see. Gill is an Auckland artist who visits Europe annually - holidaying, taking tours, painting and visiting the great art sites. She shares her knowledge, love and experiences of many wonderful places for art in Italy.

One of two Spanish adventures in this lecture series. Michael is Senior Lecturer in Architectural History and Theory at Auckland University with a specialty in ancient and medieval and design studios focussing on new work at historic sites.

Sue is a garden design professional with a passion for creating gardens here in NZ and visiting them overseas. The gardens experienced on her travels continue to inspire and stimulate.

An overview of the recent 2010 Milan Furniture Fair, then an architectural and art ramble down Italy, Yugoslavia and Greece. Simon is a prestigious innovative Auckland architect well known for his innovative use of glass, not only for walls, but roofs and floors.

St Tropez From the Eyes of the Artist | Nicky Foreman
Take a trip to some of the great French galleries through the eyes of accomplished artist, Nicky Foreman. Nicky Foreman completed a three-month residency and exhibition in Vallauris, France in 2005 and has recently returned from St Tropez, France where she exhibited. Nicky is represented by Whitespace Gallery.

The Nanette Cameron School of Interior Design | Full Course Duration

The course is part-time and consists of two year-long stages and an optional third year. All stages are one year in duration and students begin classes in February. Stage Two may also be undertaken as term modules, enabling students to join a class throughout the year. Please note that year-long students get preferential enrolment over module-only students. In order to secure a place in a class you must enroll for the full year. We limit the number of students to ensure the quality of classes so it is essential to book in advance.

Contact hours are two and a half hours per week. Daytime or evening classes are available. Classes are run in accordance with the four year school term, each being 9 weeks in length.

Contact Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts if you would like your name put down on the priority Interior Design list for 2011.

Term Dates 2010

Term One: 2nd February - 1st April. 9 weeks

Term Two: 26th April  - 24th June. 9 weeks

Term 3: 19th July to 16th September

Term 4: 11th October to 9th December

 

Certificate

At the end of the two year course a certificate will be provided to students who have attended all classes, completed all class assignments and submitted a satisfactory folio.

Fees 2010

Stage one          Full year      $1200

Stage Two         Full year       $1280

Stage Two         per module  $ 440

Stage Three      Full Year        $770

The above amounts are inclusive of the non refundable deposit of $100 which must be paid when you submit your enrolment form.  There is a $50 discount for fees paid in full (excepting modules) prior to Friday 29nd  January 2010. The School has not sought NZQA accreditation and therefore students are not eligible for student loans. Payment options are available.

Enrolment

$100 non-refundable deposit secures your place in class (this amount is subtracted from the full fee as above). This deposit is not required at enrolment for module-only students as module-only students are waitlisted until a fortnight before the course commences. Please complete the enrolment form found in the course brochure and, (together with the non-refundable deposit for year-long students), return it to:
