Music & Dance Groups

Expressions Dance

Provides quality dance training in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Contemporary dance to children aged 3 years upwards.

Our aim is to encourage dancers to be the best they can and we have highly qualified dance teachers to share their skills and talent. The school offers ISTD and NZAMD examinations to all of its pupils to help them progress further with their dance training. We also give our dancers opportunities to be involved in performances, competitions, shows and other productions to promote confidence, co-ordination and a greater sense of worth.

Pakuranga Garden Club

This club meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 9.45 - 11.45 am in the Social Room.  Morning tea, interesting speakers, a trading table and competition tables are included as well as bus trips to gardens of interest (subsidised by the Club).  Visitors are welcome at a cost of $2.00 per meeting.  Annual subscriptions $20.00

Is an association of retired WOMEN who meet together to keep their minds active, expand their interests and enjoy the fellowship of new friends.  Activities include formal meetings each month (including a guest speaker) and outings between meetings.

Rotaract is the youth division of Rotary.  Both are a global phenomenon that works in collaboration to support and enhance ties at community, national and international levels.  We are heavily involved in community service, personal and social development, as well as making life long friends.

What is U3a?  Do you have the desire to explore new things of interest now that you have time to do so?

Then U3A could be what you're looking for.

'U3A', derived from the words 'University of the Third Age', had its beginnings in France in the mid-seventies and has now spread to many countries. There are many thousands of members throughout the world.
It is a University in the original sense of the word - a group of people learning for its own sake or following a particular activity.

Pakuranga Toastmasters

Why our Club is Successful

We pride ourselves on our club's history which was founded in 1975:
We have produced the Toastmaster's World Champion of Public Speaking - Brett Rutledge 1998. Winner District Humorous in 1997 & 1998, and Prepared Speech 1998.
We have produced the District Humorous winner in 2001 and District Speech Evaluation Contest Champion in 2005 - Alun Chisholm.
District Governor 2009/2010 - Alun Chisholm.
We have a strong learning environment with a supportive culture and an element of fun.

We help one another, as Mentors and with encouraging evaluations.
Club member's progress is monitored.
Our goals are to improve our self-confidence through speaking in public.
As a club we set goals and strive to meet them each year.

We meet on each alternate Monday evening 6.30pm - 8.30pm at Te Tuhi

There is a joining fee of $50.00 and a 6 monthly subscription of $84.00 which is payable in March/September.

Mondays 7-9pm - Auditorium

Cost $8.00 per class

Ladies, feeling unfit and/or stressed out?  Not into the gym scene?  Exercise is a great destressor!  BodyTune is a fun and friendly exercise class with a caring experienced instructor.

Class consist of stretch and strength work with a low impact aerobic section included, all done to music.  Suits all levels of fitness and ages.  Bring a mat to work on and a bottle of water.

 

Flying-Moon Yoga

(Health & Wellness for body, mind & spirit)

Yoga Asana light exercise sets up a chance to stretch, relax and improve your immune system, to achieve good health, weight loss and improve confidence, flexibility and peace of mind.  This class is suitable for beginners through to the experienced.

Yoga with Mans

Mans Parsotam trained at Sivananda Ashram in Austria and was certified as a teacher in 2003.  His Hatha yoga classes combine relaxation, breathing techniques (pranayama) and physical exercise (asanas) and are suitable for all levels of practice.

'Yoga helps you be all that you can be.  I have had people say to me  ' you've changed my life' and it has definately changed my life for the better.  I encourage all men and women to come along and try yoga and experience for themselves the positive changes that yoga can bring.'

Bruce Chen Wing Chun Kung Fu

Sifu Bruce Cheng teaches traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu.

Classes meet on Sunday afternoon from 3.00 - 4.30pm during school terms.  The cost is $90 per term.  The first lesson is free!  We cater for all levels of students from beginners to those experienced in martial arts.

Chen Style Tai Chi

These classes are a carry on from the ACC classes but anyone can join - only $6.00 per person per lesson.  They are called the modified public classes and they teach people how to achieve better balance, stability and co-ordination through a series of Tai Chi exercises and forms (sequence of movements).  Studies have shown that these exercises may improve arthritis.  Also very good if you have a stressful lifestyle as we emphasise relaxation.
