School visits and education events at Te Tuhi
Te Tuhi's schools programme (LEOTC) is funded by the Ministry of Education to enrich learning with experiences outside of the classroom.
With over 160 000 visitors a year, Te Tuhi is a bustling creative hub. Our exhibitions strive for the highest international exhibition standards in contemporary art practices.
Supporting creative learning in schools
We encourage all schools to visit Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts and participate in a pre booked education programme with our trained schools educators. We have an exciting range of long term and exhibition related programmes available throughout the year.
Our LEOTC school programmes are both fun and educational and range to suit students from year 1 to 13.
Not only do our programmes reflect exciting art exhibitions and permanent gallery artworks, we also work hard to link to topics taught at school and the NZ curriculum, so you are sure to experience something that is fun, creative and educational.
see / share / make
Te Tuhi workshops invite students and teachers to observe and experience artworks or themed exhibitions.
Students are encouraged to share and discuss their ideas about the art they have seen or the ideas they may explore.
Learning is extended as students are invited to participate in a practical art activity which relates to what they have seen and discussed.
Remember most programmes are flexible to meet your student's needs, so please discuss this with our educator.
Info for teachers and schools
To make the most out of your creative leotc experience, take some time to visit our 'schools information' page on our website for the full range of leotc programming.
Programme information for each of our workshops includes a summary of your visit, information on pre visit resources and information on specific learning outcomes
You will find here downloadable pre visit information in power point format. Each presentation is suited to the topic or theme of the exhibition, simply download from our web page and use in the classroom.
Spread the word...
Every year new schools enter our gallery doors and participate in one of our education workshops.
We are always excited to hear students and teachers share how much they have learnt about art, what artworks can mean and how much fun they have had creating their own art.
Talk to our educator to book in your first or next creative learning experience!
